Quentin Blake: Gifted | Poet Q&A with Ben Westwood 15 July 2021

As part of our exhibition Quentin Blake: Gifted, we asked writers to set words to his images, reversing Blake’s usual process by getting the poets responding to his drawings.

In this interview, we chat with one of the writers, the hugely talented Ben Westwood, about his inspiration, working process, his involvement with our exhibition … and whether he prefers Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan

Ben Westwood is a writer, author, musician and poet. Being a former child runaway and young person in care, his book Poems From a Runaway details his accounts of life as a child runaway living rough on the streets of London whilst missing from foster care and children’s homes. For our exhibition, he was inspired to write by Blakes’s Children and Dogs no. 13.
